Of course they can, just listen to that fine track below. Don't expect a return to the glory days of The Dirty South or Southern Rock Opera though, as these are well in the past. Which is probably another way of saying that I still miss their classic line-up with Jason Isbell.

However this is their best album in a long while particularly the tracks Thoughs and Prayers and 21st Century USA
Even without Jason Isbell they still produce some damn fine songs.
