Hey Joe

Featured Joe Henderson in rare avant garde mode with Alice Coltrane recently, and here's some more of his magic. First shining as a sideman with such greats as Horace Silver, McCoy Tyner, Larry Young, and Lee Morgan, then on his own with a track each from the tenor's much recommended Page One and  Inner Urge albums. It's six pack time then so, jazz cats.

Horace Silver - Song For My Father
McCoy Tyner - Blues On The Corner
Larry Young - If
Lee Morgan - Totem Pole
Joe Henderson - Recorda Me
Joe Henderson - El Barrio

Blues Away

Just got the sad news that Horace Silver passed away yesterday. A wonderful pianist and a true hard bop pioneer, Horace Ward Martin Tavares Silva was 85. Miss him.

...And Dads

"Father come with me today, see the pillars in the sky..." As promised, here's a second parental six pack. Cool stuff if I may say so myself, pop kids. Don't miss that Annette Poindexter soul gem in particular. Now dig in.

Annette Poindexter & Pieces Of Peace - Mama
Linda Martell - Color Him Father
Don Varner - Mojo Mama

And thanks to the much recommended 27 Leggies, here's a bonus take from weirdsville on an old English music hall ditty. Cor blimey indeed, guv.
