Just got the sad news that the great U Roy has left us. The pioneer reggae toaster from Kingston, Jamaica, real name Ewart Beckford, was 78. I was lucky enough to see the Originator perform one time in a small club, and boy was he on fire. Miss him.

PS Very jealous you got to see him in a club. I saw him at a little local festival 8-9 years ago and he was fantastic, but must have been even better in a small venue.
