Just got the sad news that Hal Blaine has passed away. The master drummer, part of the famous Wrecking Crew, was 90. He sat behind his kit on more great songs, the small selection below among them, than you can possibly imagine. Miss him.
The Crystals - He's A Rebel
Jan & Dean - Dead Man's Curve
Nancy & Frank Sinatra - Something Stupid
The Beach Boys - Wouldn't It Be Nice
Simon & Garfunkel - The Only Living Boy In New York
Glen Campbell - Wichita Lineman

To have featured on just one of these songs would have been special.
To have featured on them all and many other great songs is simple mind blowing
Very sad news, Ramone. (I posted only two of your selections on mine, so people should have a nice cross-section of the great man's work today.)
I felt just as sad when Bobby Graham, the British session drummer, passed away a few years ago. He played on The Kinks' You Really Got Me, All Day and All of the Night, Tired of Waiting For You; The Pretty Things' Roslyn, Don't Bring Me Down, I Can Never Say; The Animals' We Gotta Get Out of This Place; Petula Clark's Downtown, I Know a Place; Tom Jones It's Not Unusual; The Nashville Teens Tobacco Road; Dusty Springfield's I Only Want To Be With You; Them's Baby Please Don't Go and Here Comes the Night, etc., etc. Astounding!
