Just A Little Green

As it´s Joni Mitchell´s birthday today, let´s celebrate with a couple of nice live performances from my beloved Canadian soprano. The songs below were recorded at the Second Fret club in Philly back in ´67, when she was still ´a little green´.

Joni Mitchell - Little Green (live 12 Oct. ´67 Second Fret, Philadelphia) MP3
Joni Mitchell - Marcy (live 12 Oct. ´67 Second Fret, Philadelphia) MP3
Joni Mitchell - Go Tell The Drummer Man (live 12 Oct. ´67 Second Fret, Philadelphia) MP3

Synchronistically, someone from the Joni-list posted the YouTube video of this performance a few days ago - two observations: not only is the tune *very* different than what we're used to (on Blue)... and the sadness in Joni's face, especially at the end when she sings "Kelly Green"...

This is really great. It's cool to hear such an early version of Little Green. The birth of her daughter had to be fairly fresh on her mind at the time of this performance.

Love the Monopoly story too. Good stuff. Joni is, of course, a favorite!
